Five centuries of craft.
Worn Everyday.
We took India’s ancient textile traditions and wove them into 100% cotton clothing your child will actually want to wear.
Why does dressing your child in ethnic wear feel like a negotiation?
India has living textile traditions that predate most countries and none of them were designed to sit in a cupboard waiting for Diwali or Eid or Wedding Festivities
The choice for parents was always the same: heavy embellished outfits worn once, or mass produced ones with no provenance. Nothing comfortable enough that a child would choose to wear on an ordinary day and stylish enough to wear on special occassions.
We asked a different question: what if craft was the starting point, not the decoration? What if the garment was stylish and at the same time soft and breathable enough that your child loved wearing it for hours?
The indigenous thread that weaves India’s heritage into the everyday.
India’s living craft traditions
Every print traces back to a named Indian craft tradition. We don’t say “ethnic-inspired.” We name it.
The pattern is dyed into the yarn before a single thread is woven. The characteristic feathered edge, that soft blur where colours meet, is not a flaw. It is proof of a human hand.
Each motif is pressed by a hand-carved wooden block, one stamp at a time. The slight irregularity at every edge is the signature of the artisan, something no machine can replicate.
Hand embroidered using thread techniques rooted in the chikankari tradition of Lucknow. Each floral motif is worked stitch by stitch, no two are identical.
Originally painted on mud walls and floors by women in the Mithila region of Bihar. The tiger is filled with geometric lines, a tradition passed from mother to daughter for over 2,500 years.
Four collections. One purpose.
Every name is a Hindi word. Every garment is built to be worn, not saved.
Short kurtas and smart coords cut for the child who has places to be; school on Friday, park on Saturday, Nani's house on Sunday. 100% cotton. No occasion required.
Printed kurta sets rooted in the traditions of India's master dyers. Kalamkari tigers. Madhubani leaves. Block print florals. Each print named after the craft that made it, never just "ethnic-inspired"
Embroidered kurta sets for the moments that matter. Diwali. Eid. The cousin's wedding. That one video call with Nani where everyone has to look their best.
Kurti Pyjama, Lehenga, Dresses and Coord Sets for girls who have somewhere to be, even if that somewhere is the living room floor.
Three things we will never negotiate on.
A Kalamkari tiger has been running through Indian scrolls for 3,000 years. A Madhubani leaf has been painted by women in Bihar for generations. Your child wearing these isn't just dressing up, it's carrying something forward.
Garments made of natural fabric like cotton is not a feature we offer; it’s a promise. Every garment, every collection, every year.
If a child can’t run in it, climb in it, or refuse to take it off; it doesn’t leave our studio.
Three parents. One brand.
I want my child to wear Indian clothes, but I don’t want to fight them to put it on. It has to be comfortable and cute.
I stay away from India and want my kiddo to know our great culture and stay rooted.
I needed something for my nephew's wedding. Ordered Desi Soota. He wore it to school the next week. And the week after that
Real words. Real kids.
"So breathable and soft that he likes to wear it himself. If you're looking for a decent ethnic set for your boy — just buy it"
"The craft + tradition proof "Beautiful print, very comfortable fabric. A fantastic touch of tradition"
"The value + longevity proof "Writing this after using it for one year. Really worth the money."
Both and that's the whole point. The Rozana collection is cut specifically for daily wear: school, park, regular Tuesdays. Jashn is for celebrations. Either way, every garment is designed for how kids actually move; so your child can wear the same kurta to a cousin's wedding and to school the following week without it looking out of place at either.
Desi Soota follows standard Indian kidswear sizing by age 1–2Y, 3–4Y, 5–6Y, 7–8Y. 8-10Y For the best fit, check the size guide on each product page. If your child is between sizes, we recommend sizing up, the cotton fabric has natural give, and children grow fast.
